Subject: Appeal for Stronger U.S. Leadership to End the Israel–Hamas Conflict

Dear Mr. President,

As an American citizen, I wish to express my deep respect and gratitude for your tireless dedication to peace and stability across the globe. From your earliest days in office, you have demonstrated bold leadership in facilitating dialogue and reconciliation — from Egypt and Ethiopia, Serbia and Kosovo, India and Pakistan, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Israel and Iran, Thailand and Cambodia, to the ongoing crisis between Russia and Ukraine. Your efforts have saved countless lives, and they have inspired in me the highest pride and confidence in your presidency — even though I was not among your voters, I now stand proud to call you, my President.

Today, I write with a profound and urgent appeal: to intensify your efforts to bring an end to the devastating conflict between Israel and Hamas. While I am grateful for your ongoing involvement, I believe you have the vision and capacity to achieve a breakthrough. This war is unlike others — over 62,000 lives have already been lost on both sides, the majority being innocent civilians, women, and children. The humanitarian crisis is escalating beyond control, threatening to erase the hope of peace for generations.

I am originally from Nepal — a peace-loving nation, the birthplace of Lord Buddha — and I feel a personal duty to support your mission for peace. I will soon be traveling to Israel to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and to Gaza to provide assistance to children in need. In November 2023, I sent a peace appeal letter to the Prime Minister of Isreal; unsure whether it reached him, I now intend to deliver the message in person.

Israel has shown the world before that it values peace above all. Great leaders such as the late Prime Ministers Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres were not only guardians of their nation but also global champions of humanity. In 2004, when asked how he wished to be remembered, Mr. Peres replied: “I would like that somebody would write about me that I saved the life of one single child. This will satisfy me more than anything else.” I will humbly remind the Prime Minister that Israel can once again rise as a beacon of peace and compassion.

Among the 1,200 victims of the Hamas attack, 10 were Nepali citizens, and one student — Mr. Bipin Joshi — is still believed to be held captive. His mother and sister are presently in Israel, desperately hoping to reunite with him. Your leadership could help bring this young man home and bring relief to his family.

Mr. President, in such a short span of your presidency, your achievements for peace surpass those of many before you. It is for this reason that I intend to nominate you for the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of both American citizens and the global community.

It would be my honor and lifelong dream to visit the White House to personally thank you and present you with a symbol of peace from Nepal. May your leadership continue to inspire a world where compassion triumphs over conflict.

With the highest respect and gratitude,

Sincerely,

Kabindra Sitoula
